Today we will be talking about another movie i saw over break. Captain Marvel. This movie was very very good and i give it a 9.5 out of ten right off the bat, but let me explain why. This movie tells the story of a girl who wakes up on a planet and becomes a warrior of that planet. She thinks she’s doing good when they are the bad guys. She trains hard but has this weird power that the supreme council says they can take away at any point. But they can’t, they say this so she will behave. She goes on her first mission only to be captured by what she thinks is the bad guys(note that these bad guys can shapeshift). She escapes them and lands on earth in an escape pod. She meets Nick Fury who works with S.H.E.I.L.D., a classified government branch that works with extraterrestrial stuff and whatnot. She gets in a fight, Fury crashes his car, and Marvel steals a motorcycle. Fury meets her at a bar which he found her at. They decide to work together to figure out her past since she found a picture of something she remembers at the bar. Fury has access to most anything so they go to a secret government base and they get locked in a room for some reason. Fury gets them out and they go searching for the files. They find the files and they find that she had a life on earth as a pilot for the military and that she was given her power from an explosion by a test plane that was powered by the tesseract, a mythical stone which is later found to be an infinity stone. She also finds that she had a best friend that still lives near the base. They are leaving before they are attacked by “bad guys” and they get out of there fast. They drive to her friends house and the friend starts balling but Marvel still doesn’t remember anything. Her friend tells her all about her life so she’ll know what happened. And then a “bad guy” shows up to the friends house in a black suit, with no weapons or backup. They are confused by this and the alien explains he is the leader of their race and that he is the one being hunted by her kind. He explains that he knows has something that could hint at where the tesseract is so that captain marvel can get it before her kind does. They go to the place and we learn that the leader wasn’t there for the tesseract but his family, there were several of his kind there and they get the tesseract when they are attacked by marvels kind. They have a huge battle with loads of cgi and its great. And it ends with her blasting off right after she gives nick a way of contacting her in case of emergency. The movie portrayed feelings of love but i loved the twist and her awakening of her true power to finally beat the true bad guys.
